In writing about my experiences adopting Linux as my operating system rather than using Windows is somewhat like going to confessional. You know you should go but find every excuse not too!.
I had used excuses such my Quickbooks accounting software would not work and I didn't have time. All of these excuses seemed rather lame duck when I saw as a network security company how we were able to penetrate networks that were poorly designed or used software that was insecure. I knew then that we should be the most secure company, however I still was hesitant. The final motivation came when I say the development of user friendly interface's for those if us who do not want to use command line.
As with all new software there was a learning curve with new terminology, and an understanding that much of what I was using was “beta” and was still being developed. It was a real insight to see how the Linux community had worked together worldwide to build such complex software and them make it available for free!
